The Story of Maofeng:

In the Ming dynasty, the new magistrate of Yi Count, Xiong Kaiyuan came to Huangshan for traveling. But unluckily, he got lost, and had no way but sleep in a temple. The abbot in the temple made a cup of tea for him. The tea is a little bit yellow, with its shape like the tongue of a sparrow. When pulled by boiling water, there emerged a hot stream, rising to the sky, like a blossoming white lotus. The lotus kept on floating, and filled the whole room with a mellow fragrance. In curiosity, Xiong asked the name of the tea, and know it was called Huangshan Maofeng. On leaving, the abbot gave him a small bag of tea and a bottle of Hangshan spring, telling him to make tea by this spring.

On his arrival, Xiong met him friend, the magistrate of Taiping County. So he showed this to him. Being rather surprised, the magistrate of Taiping County immediately reported to emperor, dreaming of being bestowed. But when displayed, the amazing scene did not appear. The emperor thus became very angry. In great fear, Yaiping told the truth. So the emperor gave his command to catch Xiong. Xiong knew it was because Taiping did not use the Huangshan Spring that the scene did not show. So he went back to the abbot to ask for spring. When the emperor saw the lotus in the sky, he was so pleased that he awarded Xiong a high-ranked official. But at that time, Xiong was disappointed at this official world, he thought, the tea is pure and innocent, but what about we man? He therefore quit his job, and went to temple to be a monk.
